Think about the building's surroundings
Before choosing the color of your building, consider your project's integration within its surroundings. During the reflection phase for example, take into account the different architectural characteristics of your region or your neighborhood. Also try to match the color of your façade to the other elements of your building such as windows, roofing, shutters and vegetation.
Some municipalities have stricter urban planning rules than others. Check with your local city planning department to find out what regulations apply to your property.
Finally, plan ahead for the exposure of your façade on your property. Each color has a different reaction to light. On a north-facing façade, or in an area that is often shaded, you might want to choose light tones to accentuate the overall brightness.

Grey and black for a contemporary façade
Grey and black tones are especially popular choices to emphasise on modernity. Being neutral colors, they easily be associated with other shades and materials: take advantage of them to play on contrasts. A black façade will perfectly highlight the marriage between traditional and modern materials. Dark tones also play well with minimalist architectures, combining colors of building elements (windows, accessories, roofing) with those of the façade.

Light and white tones for a clean look
Light tones, ranging from white to beige through light gray, are suitable for all types of projects and blend perfectly with other neutral colors. In architecture, light colors accentuate architectural choices and elongate shapes. By reflecting natural light, they enhance the warmth and brightness of your building. The only negative point is that white is naturally dirtier. However, steel can be cleaned easily and quickly with a little water. So, are you ready for a white façade?
