Helping you lower your building’s carbon footprint without compromise
At Joris Ide, decarbonisation is an integral part of our DNA. Through our Planet Passionate program, we are continuously innovating to reduce environmental impact while maintaining the highest standards of performance and quality in our building solutions.
With the launch of the Low Carbon by Joris Ide panel range, we are taking a significant step forward in sustainable construction. This new generation of sandwich panels delivers a substantially lower carbon footprint combined with a significantly higher recycled content, enabling architects, contractors, and building owners to build more sustainably without compromising on durability, aesthetics, or technical performance.
Our Low Carbon range builds on our proven panel technology while integrating low-carbon steel and higher levels of recycled materials - contributing directly to lower embodied carbon at building level and supporting our customers in achieving their sustainability ambitions.
At Joris Ide, we are committed to creating a more sustainable world for future generations. With the launch of the Low Carbon by Joris Ide panel range, we are actively advancing sustainable practices in the building sector.
Introducing the Low Carbon by Joris Ide range
We are proud to introduce a comprehensive portfolio of Low Carbon by Joris Ide panels, designed to minimize environmental impact while preserving the trusted performance of our standard panels. Each product combines reduced embodied carbon with a higher share of recycled materials, helping the construction sector transition toward more circular and climate-responsible building practices. The range includes:
Measurable impact
Carbon reductions
By integrating low-carbon steel into our panel systems, Joris Ide achieves a substantial reduction in embodied carbon across the product range. These improvements are verified through our Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), which provide transparent and independently validated data.
On a cradle-to-gate basis (A1–A3):
- The JI Vulcasteel Low Carbon range achieves at least 30% reduction in embodied carbon compared to standard panels (based on verified EPD’s for 100mm thickness).
- The JI PIR Low Carbon range achieves at least 35%* reduction in embodied carbon compared to standard panels (based on verified EPD’s for 100mm thickness).
*With the exception of JI Onduroof 1000 (80 mm) achieving 37% reduction and JI Eco 1000 (100 mm) achieving 25% reduction.
This makes the Low Carbon by Joris Ide panels a powerful tool for lowering the overall carbon footprint of buildings.
Discover our EPD portfolio (for both the standard and the Low Carbon version of our panels) and learn more about why Joris Ide is investing in creating EPDs.
Higher recycled content
Our Low Carbon panels contain a significantly higher proportion of recycled materials compared to our standard panels, reinforcing circular economy principles in construction.
On a 100mm reference thickness:
- JI Vulcasteel Low Carbon panels contain a minimum of 49% recycled content (pre- and post-consumer).
- JI PIR Low Carbon panels contain a minimum of 66%* recycled content (pre- and post-consumer).
*With the exception of JI Onduroof 1000 (80 mm) containing 66% recycled content and JI Eco 1000 (100 mm) containing 52% recycled content.
This increased recycled content contributes to resource efficiency, reduced material extraction, and lower environmental impact.
With the JI Low Carbon panels, Joris Ide is launching a more sustainable product range of our sandwich panels without compromising on quality, which is fully aligned with the sustainable image we want to exude as a company.
