Joris Ide launches Vulcasteel FIRE
Joris Ide is expanding its Vulcasteel offering with Vulcasteel FIRE, a dedicated range of mineral wool sandwich panels with declared EI and REI fire resistance.
The new range provides architects, specifiers and contractors with a clearer solution for projects where certified fire resistance is required, while maintaining the straightforward installation principles of Vulcasteel panels.
Clearly defined fire resistance performance
Vulcasteel FIRE includes both wall and roof panels with declared fire resistance classifications.
By introducing a dedicated range, Joris Ide makes it easier to identify and select the appropriate solution for projects subject to specific fire resistance requirements. Vulcasteel FIRE products have distinct article numbers, while their fire resistance performance is clearly stated in the Declaration of Performance (DoP).
This provides greater transparency throughout the project, from specification and product selection to ordering and installation.
Simple installation without additional on-site measures
One of the key advantages of Vulcasteel FIRE is its straightforward installation.
The panels are installed according to the same principles as standard Vulcasteel panels, without requiring additional measures on site such as extra sealant or screws to achieve the declared fire resistance performance.
This helps simplify installation, save time on site and reduce the risk of installation errors that could affect the intended fire performance.
Vulcasteel and Vulcasteel FIRE: what is the difference?
The existing Vulcasteel range remains fully available alongside Vulcasteel FIRE.
The distinction between the two ranges is clear:
- Vulcasteel FIRE: panels with declared EI or REI fire resistance.
- Standard Vulcasteel: panels without declared fire resistance.
Both ranges maintain excellent reaction-to-fire performance, with Vulcasteel mineral wool panels achieving an A2-s1, d0 classification, meaning they are practically non-combustible.
It is important, however, to distinguish between reaction to fire and fire resistance. Reaction to fire describes how a product behaves when exposed to fire, while fire resistance indicates the ability of a building element to maintain specific functions and limit the spread of fire for a defined period of time.
Vulcasteel Roof panels also benefit from BRoof (t1), (t2) and (t3) classifications, with the exception of alpha range (perforated) panels.
