Young Graduates

Career Stories

Our graduate development initiative, offers a chance to connect and collaborate with fellow graduates hailing from various backgrounds and regions. As a participant, you'll engage in workshops, masterclasses, group projects, and gain insights from senior leaders within our global network. This program presents an excellent opportunity for recent graduates to enhance both their personal and professional capabilities.

This year, some Joris Ide employees actively participated in workshops, masterclasses, and group projects for a full year: Meet Olivier our Accountmanager for North Germany, Anouck as Supervisor Bending, Judith our Group Operations SAP Key User and Victoria who takes care of Internal Sales.

How did you experience the training?

Victoria: For me the training was very educational. I was able to get out of my comfort zone and take on new perspectives, which boosted my confidence. Over the course of a year, you could clearly see the development, regardless of whether it was English, presentation or communication skills.

Olivier: My overall experience is definitely positive. It was interesting to get to know people and cultures from every corner of the world. Both professionally and personally, they make you see certain things in a different way.

Judith: A boost in your personal and professional development! You'll be challenged to think critically about a wide range of topics and receive numerous valuable tips that are applicable both in your professional and personal life.

Anouck: My overall experience with the training is very positive. Although the workload was difficult to balance at times, I am very happy I was able to join. I got to meet a lot of different people with interesting backgrounds and cultures. Furthermore, there were few workshops that didn’t provide any takeaway of some sorts.

Which workshops did you find most interesting?

Anouck: I found the workshops related to presentation skills to be the most interesting, as it is a topic I struggle with. Throughout the program, we had plenty of opportunities to practice speaking in front of large crowds. The highlight was our final showcase event, during which we presented our project to Kingspan's senior management. This experience also helped me gain confidence in speaking up in general. Furthermore, the workshops on handling difficult conversations have proven very useful in my current position at Joris Ide.

Victoria: The most interesting workshop was the first one! We learned about the different personality types in colors and also found out more about our own personalities.

Why is this training a must to follow?

Olivier: For anyone at the beginning of their professional career, it is interesting to gain a general insight into the organization and the various roles that are possible.

Judith: Throughout the program, you'll collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds on projects that often fall outside your daily routine. This experience will greatly enhance your knowledge and insights.

What has stuck with you the most?

Olivier: Visiting the different sites was interesting to see how they operate, how the machines run, and how they process orders. Being able to chat with colleagues on-site and learn from fellow young graduates has given me a broader perspective on the organization.

Anouck: At the beginning of the program, we need to determine our Insights Discovery profile. This profile helps us understand our personality and that of others through the four-color energies framework. It provides a detailed description of our personality, strengths, and weaknesses on both a personal and professional level. This discovery profile, along with the associated workshops, allowed me to comprehend the challenges and potential benefits of working in a team. Every individual works, thinks, and expresses themselves differently, understanding and embracing these differences enables better collaboration.

Victoria: The people. The people. The people. Working, having fun together and sharing the same experience creates a strong bonding.
