With over 120,000 subscribers on YouTube and 25,000 on Instagram, Aladdin Jammal has established himself as one of the most followed DIY content creators in France. His latest project? To create a top-of-the-range, unusual accommodation site, based on wood-frame A-frames, in the heart of the Albi region.
A first building as a starting point
Before embarking on the construction of its three future A-frame houses, Aladdin built an initial module: a 21 m² reception office. He wanted a building that was aesthetically pleasing, quick to erect and sufficiently insulated to provide comfort all year round. With this in mind, he turned to the 100 mm thick JI Roof 1000 sandwich panel for the roof, a solution that perfectly met his requirements.
JI Roof 1000 was a natural choice for this type of compact timber-frame building. Its 100 mm PIR core provides a high level of thermal insulation, with an R value of over 4, while its mechanical strength means that small spans can be covered without the need for a traditional roof structure, considerably simplifying installation.
The fact that it can be installed so quickly, which is appreciated by self-builders, was an added bonus. For Aladdin, the office was also an ideal opportunity to familiarise itself with the installation of sandwich panels and to confirm the relevance of this solution before adopting it on its future A-frame houses.
It therefore opted for seven 3.20-metre panels, a length that allowed it to create a slight roof overhang that was both aesthetically pleasing and protective of the timber facades.
An inspiring project
Aladdin's first building is a perfect illustration of what modern self-build can be: a technically sound project, thought through with economic intelligence, driven by genuine quality research and accurately documented so that its community can benefit. Its approach shows that it is possible to combine architectural creativity, rigorous execution and shared experience.
