A large-scale renovation
The 'Nouveau Tertre' project on the campus of the University of Nantes consisted of the modernization of buildings made in the 1960s. The aim was to make the buildings more functional and more energy-efficient. Carried out by a consortium led by Bouygues Bâtiment, the works included the demolition of the existing hall and the construction of a four-story building. The building is connected to the existing buildings, which are already renovated.
The ‘Nouveau Tertre’ Campus has achieved the "Bâtiment Basse Consommation Renovation" (BBC 2005) level, i.e. a consumption level 40% lower than the reference consumption (French standard). The technical choices were based on the performance of the metal envelope and the use of solar products. For the new building, the project complies with the latest French standard.
This rehabilitation project asserts the opportunity for a permanent transformation of the Campus which places it in a modernized urban vision. The architecture is renewed to reach the environmental challenges, the economical and sustainable technical choices, and the comfort of use of students and staff.
The aesthetics of a corrugated profile
JI 18-076-988 is a sinusoidal wall profile that is suitable for single-skin cladding fixed to a secondary framework. This corrugated cladding profile is the perfect product to cover this educational facility. The corrugations give rhythm to the façade as the day progresses and the sun shines on it.
