Cédric Julien

career story

My name is Cédric JULIEN, I am 39 years old and I am a father of 2 girls (10 and 12 years old). Since February 2019, I am in charge of the Folding Unit at Joris Ide Bretagne in France.

After studying management and accounting (BTS/DECF), I first worked as an accountant for 4 years. I then looked to change career path and studied to obtain a building crafts and construction diploma. After this training, I worked as a metal folder in the agricultural sector for 5 years before making a second career change to become a Sheet Metal Folder at Joris Ide Bretagne.

How did you end up at Joris Ide ?

Working in the construction industry required a certain mobility, so I started looking for a more sedentary job. At the time, I learned that Joris Ide was looking for a steel bender, so I applied for the position. Today, I work only 800 meters from my home!

How has your career with us gone so far ?

I joined the group in January 2013 as a CNC bender operator. At Joris Ide, I was able to take advantage of the many in-house trainings that allowed me to evolve and reach the positions of Assistant Manager, then Unit Manager. One of the strengths of the company is to give a lot of importance to the training and to value internal promotion. This is the Joris Ide DNA.

Joris Ide allows everyone to evolve professionally through various training and internal promotion. The strength of a large group like Joris Ide is also to have the possibility to grow in a different location.

What is a typical work day like?

The day begins with a tour of the workshop to take the pulse of the activity and align with the team to establish the priorities of the day. I then check on the progress of the production and participate in organizational meetings. Most of the day is spent checking plans, planning production and managing inventory. In case of a rush, I will do some production as well.

What part of your job gives you the most satisfaction?

Like all employees at Joris Ide, I take pride in making our customers happy. To achieve this goal, we have to work closely with all the departments (sales, transport, purchasing, …) in order to best meet the customer's expectations. This also requires controlled production planning as well as a good dose of reactivity in order to respond quickly to the needs of employees and the requests of customers and stakeholders
