Valentin Rambeault

career story

My name is Valentin Rambeault and I am 28 years old. I've been a sales representative for Joris Ide Atlantique for 6 months.

I started out as an intern with a professional accountancy diploma several years ago, then I finished my BTS in business administration with two new internships that allowed me to discover more about the company. At that time, Joris Ide Atlantique was looking for a sales person. So I started as an internal sales representative.

I worked as an internal sales rep for 7 years, in the same departments (37 - 41 - 45) together with Charly Baudu (now JI Atlantique Sales Manager).

How did this career development happen?

The group has undergone a change with the evolution of Charly Baudu at the beginning of 2021 (from sales representative to sales manager). The position of sales representative for this sector was therefore vacant. I decided to apply because it was a great opportunity at the age of 28!

The big advantage for me in this development is that it brings me into direct contact with the customers that I followed for 7 years in the office as an internal sales person. At that time I worked with Charlène Da Costa in order entry. Today Charlène has also moved into a sales position.

This shows continuity in the company with the same local contacts. Joris Ide favours internal promotion and helps people to develop.

What has been the biggest change since you first started?

The technical part is the biggest change because now I am face to face with the technical problems of our customers every day. From an organisational point of view, this also changes because there are no longer any notions of timetables, especially with travel.

"Charly helps me a lot with the customer approach in order to provide them with the best possible service.”

Describe a typical week

I start the week with a day of teleworking (preparing the schedule for the coming weeks, managing all the quotes in progress...) in order to 'be up to date' before starting my sales tour. On Tuesday, I leave for a 3-day tour, making a loop (from the furthest point to the nearest point). In order to have qualified meetings with our clients and prospects on future projects.

I live 2 minutes from Joris Ide Atlantique so on Fridays I maintain relationships with colleagues, with my internal sales partner to ensure good coordination between departments. I also take the opportunity to deal with emails that I haven't had time to deal with during my tour.

How well do you work together with your team?

We focus on communication! It seems obvious but it is not necessarily so. We are young and we use the modern means made available by the group to reduce the flow of emails in particular. "We like it when our files are well organised and followed up."

What are the big challenges / projects for this year?

My first objective will be to cover the whole sector to be known everywhere, to show my reactivity and availability to customers.

In the medium/long term, I would like to progress on the technical side. To achieve this, I can count on my dedicated colleagues and the training programme provided by the group.

Speaking of commitment, Joris Ide will be sponsoring you for a great humanitarian project - the 4L Trophy in 2022. Can you tell us more about this great commitment?

Together with 3 friends, we are leaving from Biarritz in 2 cars. In 10 days’ time we will travel about 6000km. "The main goal is to bring school and sports equipment to underprivileged children in the Moroccan desert. It is a benevolent project for a good cause and it is close to my heart.”
